Website design audit · Quoted per audit
Find what's costing you
enquiries, before you
rebuild the wrong thing
A UX audit and brand-and-design review of your live site for UK SMEs, from a Nottingham studio that handles identity and web together. Most SEO or web agencies audit the site alone; we score how brand, design and experience work as one system. You leave with a written, prioritised plan.
-
UX & conversion
Journeys, CTAs and hierarchy checked against your real goals.
-
Performance
Core Web Vitals, weight and load behaviour with specific fixes.
-
Brand & design
Visual identity, messaging and credibility checked alongside UX.
-
Prioritised plan
Findings ranked by impact and effort, ready to brief or build.
Sound familiar?
When an audit earns its place
-
Traffic without enquiries
Visitors arrive, then leave, or enquire and go cold. An audit finds friction in journeys, CTAs and trust signals before you spend on more ads or a full redesign.
-
Before you commission a rebuild
A redesign without diagnosis often rebuilds the same mistakes. An audit clarifies what to keep, what to fix in place, and what genuinely needs replacing, so the brief and budget stay honest.
-
Too close to your own site
Internal teams stop seeing confusing navigation, weak hierarchy or slow pages. An independent review from people who also ship sites gives you a second opinion you can act on.
What an audit is
What is a website design audit?
A website design audit is an expert review of your live site, brand, design, usability, messaging, performance and technical health, scored against your commercial goals. Berlew runs brand and website audits together, not search scores or dev checks in isolation. It is not user testing with recruited participants, and it is not a free automated scan. You receive a written report with evidence and recommendations ranked by impact, so you can fix issues yourself, brief another team, or ask us to implement. See also our website design services if the audit points to a rebuild.

How it works
How a website audit actually runs
A structured expert review, not a checklist tool. Scope and turnaround are confirmed with the quote - most full audits complete within a couple of weeks depending on site size.
We agree what success looks like, review your site against those goals, and take analytics access if you have it, so findings are ranked against real commercial outcomes, not generic scores.
Brand consistency, UX journeys, visual hierarchy, content clarity, Core Web Vitals, accessibility notes and technical SEO assessed systematically by people who also design identities and rebuild sites, not a scan-only SEO or dev team.
Every issue is rated by how badly it blocks users or conversions, and how hard it is to fix, so quick wins sit above nice-to-haves, and you know what to tackle first.
A clear write-up with evidence and prioritised recommendations. Implement yourself, brief another team, or engage us for targeted fixes or a rebuild, the audit stands alone either way.
What you walk away with
A report your team can actually use
The deliverable is the point of the engagement, annotated findings and a ranked plan, not a vague “needs improvement” email.
-
01
Evidence-backed findings
Specific pages and journeys called out with why they fail - hierarchy, copy, trust, mobile behaviour - so the problem is visible, not abstract.
-
02
Performance & technical notes
Core Web Vitals, asset weight and technical SEO signals reviewed alongside UX, so speed and search issues sit in the same plan as conversion friction.
-
03
Prioritised action plan
Recommendations ranked by impact and effort. Use it in-house, with another agency, or with us, including a rebuild when that is the honest answer.
Brand, design and web together
Why not an SEO agency or scan-only audit?
Most SEO shops score search signals. Most web agencies score code and templates. Berlew reviews brand, design and the website together, because that is usually where conversion breaks, not in a keyword table alone.

Audit scope
Free snapshot vs quoted full audit
Start with the free snapshot if you want a quick second opinion. When you need depth, every paid audit is quoted to your site size and goals.
After the audit
Fix it yourself, brief us, or rebuild properly
The website design audit is useful on its own. Plenty of clients take the report in-house or to another team. If you want us to implement, we can run targeted fixes or move into a full website design project. One-page sites start from £750. Ongoing care after launch sits under website management. We will not push a rebuild when a handful of high-impact fixes will do.

Website audit FAQs
The questions that usually block an enquiry, answered plainly.
Is there a free website audit?
Yes. The free snapshot audit is a top-level read on brand fit, first impressions and obvious UX blockers on your homepage and key pages. It is genuinely useful as a second opinion, but it is not the full written report. When you need depth, we quote a paid audit separately.
How is this different from an SEO agency audit?
SEO agencies usually score search signals and technical health. We review brand, design and UX alongside performance and SEO, because a site can rank and still fail to convert if the identity and experience do not match. Berlew is a design studio first, so brand and website audits sit in the same engagement.
How much does a website audit cost?
The snapshot audit is free. Full audits are quoted based on site size and depth of review. A small brochure site costs less than a large store with multiple journeys. We confirm scope and price before any paid work starts.
What does a website design audit include?
Typically UX and conversion review, performance and technical SEO checks, accessibility notes and a written report with prioritised recommendations. A full website UX audit can be narrowed or deepened to your priorities.
How long does an audit take?
Turnaround is confirmed with the quote. Most full audits complete within a couple of weeks depending on site size and how deep the review needs to go.
Will you implement the fixes you recommend?
We can, as targeted improvements or a follow-on redesign - but this will be quoted separately. The audit stands alone if you prefer to brief another team or handle fixes in-house.
Is an audit useful before a redesign?
Yes. It clarifies what to keep, what to fix in place and what to rebuild, which usually saves budget and stops you repeating the same mistakes on a new site.
How is this different from usability testing?
An audit is expert review, faster to arrange, no participant recruitment. Usability testing observes real users on tasks. Both are useful; an audit is usually the right first step when you need a prioritised plan quickly.
